She is a well known wedding planner in Las Vegas and in the entire world. Not only she is planning luxury weddings but also sharing her love for this industry and experience with other wedding planners wanting to take their business to the next level or they are just at the beginning of their career. For her it’s all about investing in your education and her Masterclasses are doing just that. She is a public speaker, wrote two books ‘Luxury weddings Las Vegas’ and ‘Redefine your wedding business’ which you can find here, she is a mother & wife…..she is the amazing Andrea Eppolito.
I cannot express how happy I am to have her on my blog and share this interview with my community. When I asked she immediately said YES and honestly, taking time from her busy schedule to answer my questions, made me admire her even more.
Thank you SO MUCH Andrea!
1. We know that bringing two families together, sometimes can be tricky. There are traditions to follow, status, money and expectations. How do you handle complicated family dynamics? What is the best advice you would give to a couple dealing with this situation?
My job is to understand my couple as individuals, and then to help them decide who they want to be in the future. Each person is bringing a lifetime of history, expectations, and traditions to this moment. They are creating a new family, a new unit, and together we decide what we will carry over from their past and which elements will be a part of their future.
In terms of the complications, I tell all of my couples to expect some form of difficulty because a wedding is such an intense, emotional experience for all parties involved. That said, these people will be in your life forever, so remember to maintain a level of respect, and each person should be assigned to deal with their own family/side.
2. What is the most popular signature cocktail couples ask to have on their wedding day? What is your go- to cocktail?
My couples do not often ask for signature cocktails. They are very big wine and bourbon drinkers, however!
3. Each year we have certain trends that couples love, despite us wedding planners maybe having a different opinion.
What is one trend that you would want to disappear forever?
I abhor trends! Anything trendy immediately feels dated in a way – there is an expiration date on trends. I always prefer classic styling with an edge.
But if you have to have an answer….Mason jars and burlap. Never again.
4. Some couples come with some very interesting visions and ideas: what is the craziest event you’ve had to organize?
STRIPPERS! I had a request for a late-night adult entertainment performance. And it was incredible! So unexpected and so much fun!
5. What would be a piece of advice you would give to a wedding planner starting today? (something that nobody told you and you had to learn through mistakes)
You have to understand the business side of the business! If you are not set up to make money, safe money, and sustain your lifestyle then you have a hobby and not a career.
6. Let’s talk Marketing! If you had to pick only one app to use for your business, what would that be and why?
Ultimately, I would say my blog. It is not considered popular or sexy, but it is mine. Instagram, YouTube, TikTok…they are all great fun, but the only thing I own is my blog.
7. What is a regular day for Andrea like?
No such thing! My days are always so varied, but there are definitely some benchmarks. I always start with 5 or 10 quiet moments where I mentally visualize map out my day. I make a vegan chocolate protein shake, and I try to take a 5 mile walk 4-5 days a week. I check my emails, check in on social, and then my day can involve anything from client meetings, design days, creating content, etc. My husband and I also have other business interests; we have a venue management company, a hospitality consulting firm, and an educational platform. I’m in an out of multiple businesses throughout the day, but at the core they all lead back to my desire to create something beautiful.
8. Who is your role model?
I don’t have a “role model” per say. There are a number of people whose businesses I respect. There are people who have a life-balance and a lifestyle that I aspire to. There is work that I love and appreciate, but I have always been very dedicated to charting my own course.
9. If you weren’t a wedding planner, what career would you have chosen instead?
Lawyer! Hands down. I love the process, the analytics, and the negotiations. I think I would have been an extraordinary trial lawyer.
10. Tell us something about you that people would find it surprising.
That I am actually very sensitive. I have a reputation for being “difficult” which I have always found surprising. I am not difficult – I am exacting. I hold my teams to the highest of standards, and they unequivocally must do their jobs. There is zero latitude in that. Zero. I never intent to be difficult; but I always demand that my team is the best.
I hope you have enjoyed this conversation just as much as I did. I am so curious to find out what was your favourite question and also who else you want me to approach for my next blog post.
Until next time…Love, Alex!
