I am so excited to introduce to you ‘ Say what? 15 Questions with…’ blog post series. Intrigued? Great!
I have recently decided that it is time to know our industry colleagues even better so I will play this game where I ask someone 15 questions. I am aiming to have a guest each month so if you have suggestions, let me know.
These 15 questions will not be the same old questions that you can easily find on their website. No, no, no…. they are fun, quirky and maybe weird but as you will see, they will challenge them a bit.
The person I had in mind to be my fist guest and break the ice is a mom, friend, sexy wife, event planner, a woman that inspires me and with her support I feel I can bring my business to the next level. We are both event planners but we are not competitors. I feel that we understand and want to help each other become the best version of ourselves.
So without further ado I would like to present to you Kiri Walker – the #bosslady behind Tiger Lily Weddings and Events.
You can find her here! (link https://tigerlilyweddingsandevents.com.au)
Enjoy!
1. Why the business name? Give me the truth. (I want the real deal, not the confetti covered answer)
My business is called Tiger Lily Weddings & Events – there is no great mystery to the name. Tiger Lily’s are my favourite flower, well technically the flower I love is a Pink Oriental Lily, I believe that a Tiger Lily is darker in colour…or lighter in colour, I forget lol. But I liked the sound of ‘Tiger Lily’ and I felt it suited me and my brand much better. So that’s what I stuck with.
2. What makes you roll you eyes every time you hear it?
In this current climate it’s the words ‘unprecedented’ thank you Coronavirus.
3. What’s your cure for hiccups?
I’m not sure this really works but lying upside down and holding your breath.
4. If you had to pick an actor/actress to portray you in a movie about your life, who would you pick?
My life is actually not that exciting, so it wouldn’t be a very interesting movie, but when I was younger my mum used to say that I looked a bit like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kate Beckinsale and Anne Hathaway. So it would be one of those 3, but probably Kate I think she is hot, she has a very sexy look about her.
5. What is your celebrity crush?
I love a good Hemsworth brother, although I don’t really know the name of the ‘other one’, but from memory he is cute too. Actually my ultimate hall pass, if I had to have one is Channing Tatum. There was a time back a few years ago that I had a thing for Gary Mehigan from Masterchef and Ian (Dicko) Dickson from Australian Idol. My boyfriend at the time said to me that he could see a pattern emerging with older overweight English men lol. They just had a cute cheeky look about them.
6. Recommend me one restaurant in the city.
I don’t really visit many restaurants in the city these days, now that I’m no longer living in the city, but I do love Red Spice Road and Oriental Tea House in Melbourne.
7. If you could have a song play every time you enter a room, what would it be?
‘Simply the Best’ Tina Turner hahaha – needs no explanation!
8. What’s the weirdest thing a guest has done at your house?
Oh gosh, I don’t really think anything weird has happened at my house.
9. Why is it that when things get wet they get darker, even if though water is clear?
No idea, I’m a Wedding Planner not a scientist.
10. What sport would be the funniest to add a mandatory amount of alcohol to?
I am the least sportiest person ever, but probably something obscure like twirling or darts.
11. What set of items could you buy that would make the cashier the most uncomfortable?
A cucumber and a bottle of lube.
12. What are your favourite TV shows from your childhood?
We actually didn’t have a TV until I was about 8 or 9, so I missed out on a lot of those popular cartoons and we also lived in NZ so they would be different from the ones here in Australia. However I do have fond memories of the Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake. I loved Full House and actually my 4 year old son has discovered it on Netflix and loves it. Denver the last dinosaur. My all time favourite Warner Bros character is Tweety.
13. You Have Seven Dollars And Five Minutes At The Grocery Store. What Do You Buy?
I was going to say ‘same answer as question 11’ but I don’t think $7 would cover it.
It would either be chocolate or the remaining ingredients that I need (from whatever is not in my pantry) to make a pavlova, that’s my weakness. It also depends on the time of year, if it’s Easter then a packet of Cadbury Creme Eggs and I wouldn’t share them anyone.
14. If roses are red, why are violets blue?
Because it wouldn’t be a rhyme if the violets are violet
15. If you could pick a country to live in any other than Australia, what would that be and why?
Hhhmm there are a lot of places I would love to travel too, but not necessarily live in, as I don’t speak a foreign language. I would probably say Scotland. I spent the better part of 2013 living in Edinburgh and it was such a beautiful part of the world to be in. People are friendly, I actually don’t mind the cold and walking to work in the snow was amazing. It’s also so close to Europe to have a nice long weekend somewhere amazing. There’s a lot of Europe that I didn’t get a chance to see, so I would love to go back.
There you have it, this is Kiri, my beautiful friend.
I am really curious to see if you have more questions for me to ask my future guests so please, send them to me either via email or even a DM on my social media accounts.
Until next time…. be creative!
June guest – I have my eyes on you!
